Master data is the information you set up once and reuse everywhere. Every cattle purchase points at a supplier, every sale at a buyer, every field activity at a field. Setting these up before you start recording keeps your records clean and saves retyping.
A good setup order
- 1Projects — the cycles you will group animals or crops into (for example a pen-fattening lot or a maize season).
- 2Fields — your land parcels, with size and location.
- 3Crops — what you grow, with time to harvest.
- 4Suppliers — who you buy animals and inputs from.
- 5Buyers — who you sell to.
- 6Products — feed, medicines and inputs you keep in stock.

Tip: You do not need everything on day one. Set up one project, one field and your main supplier, and add the rest as they come up — the forms let you add master data as you go.
